Louis M. Foppiano of Foppiano Winery

Louis M. Foppiano will be here pouring his world-famous wines at Wine Gourmet on Tuesday, September 22, 2009 from 5-7 pm.

Foppiano Winery is the oldest family-owned winery in Sonoma County, California.  Founded by the disenchanted gold miner, John Foppiano, in 1896, Louis is the 4th generation.  Lou made his mark on the Foppiano Wall of Fame with his visionary placement of Petite Sirah in the vineyard in the mid-80’s.   He believed this Rhone variety was and is good for California.

He also founded PS I Love You (Petite Sirah, I Love You), a non-profit group that advocates growers of Petite Sirah in the USA.  In addition, he created a second label named Riverside to capture the value market and he streamlined the Foppiano label exclusively to  red wines.

Wines we will enjoy Tuesday evening:

  • Lot 96 – a blend of Zinfindel, Petite Sirah and other red grape varietals
  • 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon
  • 2005 Petite Sirah
  • 2006 Pinot Noir
  • 2003 Petite Sirah Reserve
